Frequently Asked Questions
What is Task Zero?
Task Zero is a local task and project service helping homeowners, individuals, families, and businesses get things done. From projects that have been sitting on your to-do list to installations and custom work, Task Zero provides a reliable, skilled extra set of hands when you need it.
What does Task Zero specialize in?
Task Zero specializes in custom projects, woodworking, non-structural carpentry, product installation, mounting, assembly, minor home projects, and other hands-on services for homes, personal spaces, and businesses. Every project is a little different. I enjoy tackling unique requests and finding practical solutions to get the job done right.
What areas do you serve?
Task Zero primarily serves Anchorage, Eagle River, and Chugiak, Alaska. If you’re outside these areas, feel free to reach out. Depending on the location, schedule, and scope of the project, I may be able to accommodate your request. Additional travel charges may apply for work outside the primary service area.
Is Task Zero licensed and insured?
Yes. Task Zero is an Alaska-registered business and carries insurance appropriate for the services offered. Task Zero performs work within the permitted scope and does not perform specialty trade work requiring licenses, endorsements, or qualifications it does not hold.
What types of projects can you help with?
Task Zero handles a variety of hands-on projects, installations, mounting, assembly, minor repairs, woodworking, non-structural carpentry, and other practical tasks for homes and businesses. If you’re not sure whether your project fits, send me the details. I’ll let you know whether it’s something Task Zero can take on.
Are there projects Task Zero doesn’t perform?
Yes. Task Zero does not perform work that requires a specialty license, endorsement, certification, or qualification that Task Zero does not hold. If your project falls outside my scope, I’ll let you know before work begins so you can contact an appropriately qualified professional.
How do I request a project?
Contact Task Zero through the website and tell me what you need completed. Photos, measurements, product information, and other details are helpful when applicable. I’ll review your request, ask any necessary questions, and follow up with availability, pricing, or the next steps.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. Depending on the project, work may be completed while you’re away. We’ll arrange access, instructions, and any necessary details ahead of time. Some projects may require you or another authorized adult to be available at the beginning, during, or upon completion of the work.
How much does Task Zero cost?
Pricing depends on the type and complexity of the project, materials, location, and estimated time required. Send me the details of what you need, and I’ll provide pricing or an estimate before approved work begins.
Do you provide materials?
It depends on the project. Task Zero can provide standard materials for many projects, or you can provide your own products and materials when appropriate. We’ll determine what’s needed when discussing your project. Specialty materials, upgrades, or special-order items may result in additional costs.
Can you install products I’ve already purchased?
Yes, for many types of products. Send me the product information, installation location, and photos if possible. I’ll review the requirements and let you know whether it’s something Task Zero can install. Customer-supplied products should be complete, compatible with the intended installation, and appropriate for the location where they’ll be used.
Can you help with last-minute requests?
Sometimes. Availability varies, particularly for same-day or short-notice requests. Contact me as soon as you know you need help, and I’ll let you know what scheduling options are available.
Can I hire Task Zero for recurring work?
Possibly. Some services may be a good fit for a recurring arrangement depending on the type of work and scheduling availability. Contact me with what you have in mind, and we can determine whether a recurring arrangement makes sense.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes. Task Zero works with businesses on installations, mounting, assembly, custom projects, and other hands-on tasks that help keep things moving. Contact me with your project requirements, location, and preferred schedule to discuss whether Task Zero is a good fit.
What if I’m not sure whether Task Zero can do my project?
Just ask. Send me a description of what you need along with photos or other relevant information. Every request is different, and I’ll let you know whether it’s within Task Zero’s scope.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible is recommended, especially if you have a specific date or deadline. Requests are scheduled based on availability, project requirements, and location. Short-notice requests may also be accommodated when scheduling allows.
How do I get started?
Tell me what needs to be done, where it needs to happen, and when you’d like it completed. Photos and a brief description are usually a great place to start. I’ll review the request, confirm the details, and let you know the next steps. Consider it done.
Do you keep my information private?
Yes. Task Zero respects your privacy. Task Zero does not sell or rent your personal information or provide your contact information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. Information may be used or disclosed as reasonably necessary to communicate with you, provide requested services, operate the website, and conduct legitimate business activities as described in the Task Zero Privacy Policy.
